The Elk River
headwaters begin in the Northwestern slopes
of Peak Mountain and flow west to
Banner Elk and on to Elk Park. Prior to
crossing into Tennessee it flows over
Elk Falls, a locally-known
attraction which is approximately a 40 foot
drop. It then flows down a narrow,
relatively steep valley to the tiny
community of Elk Mills. |
