Sparta North Carolina
is located in northwest North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains and nestled
between the New River and the Blue Ridge Parkway, Alleghany County offers
scenic vistas, an unspoiled landscape and friendly folk. Perhaps you seek
a weekend getaway, a hike on mountain trails, or a canoe trip down our
National Scenic River. You can enjoy foot-stompin' mountain music, relish
the challenge of mountain golf, or just relax on a visit to Alleghany
County. Located at the crossroads of the county's two main corridors -- US
21 and NC 18 -- Sparta is the physical center as well as the focus of
community life for Alleghany County. Like many southern towns, the
Courthouse is the center of town. The old central business district
recalls the charm of the town's early history. Two shopping centers speak
more to recent growth. |

Rick's Smallmouth
Adventures. By guiding fishing trips on The New River for over
10 years, Rick Gauldin has turned his simple love for fishing, boating,
and entertaining into a fun and fulfilling
secondary business. As the locals will be sure to tell you, fishing and
navigating The New takes not only fishing know-how, but first hand
experience and an understanding of the river’s ebb, flow, and unique
personality. With that in mind, Rick designs and builds his own river
“flat boats” which make for a safe, comfortable, and effective fishing
platform. Rick's
