Flat Rock
North Carolina
is a mosaic of diverse lives and times.
Its fields and streams were once claimed as hunting grounds by the Cherokee
Nation. In
1995, the Village of Flat Rock NC became incorporated and continues to flourish as
a quiet mountain community on the outskirts of Hendersonville. Flat Rock
is as popular with local residents as it is with
tourists seeking the peace and beauty of nature. The vision for Flat Rock is to
remain a small village of low commercialization as it is
today and to remain a place of beauty for many years in the future. Flat Rock is
known for friendliness
and hospitality as well as safe roads and walking trails. |

heart of Historic Flat Rock, The Wrinkled Egg, is located in a
building fondly remembered as Peace's Grocery (circa 1890) which
operated as the community's only general store until the early
1980's. To this day, The Wrinkled Egg offers an eclectic mix of the
good things in life - ice cream, folk art, a brick oven
bakery, clothing for all ages, Brighton leather goods, great stuff for kids, summer camp care packages and

Historic Flat Rock. Formed in 1968,
Historic Flat Rock, Inc. is a non-profit
organization whose purpose is to help preserve
historic properties for future generations to
enjoy. We have assisted in renovations,
restorations and purchases in order to save
significant properties from destruction or
development, and we also have obtained historic
easements on many properties through the
generosity of their owners, and through outright
purchase. Historic Flat Rock, Inc. is operated
by a Board of Trustees that meets bi-monthly,
and there is an annual membership meeting in
August. Two of our major activities are the Tour
of Homes and the Gala, which are held in
alternate years. |
