EVENTS AND ATTRACTIONS

Gorges State Park. Plunging waterfalls, rugged river gorges, sheer rock walls and one of the greatest concentrations of rare and unique species in the eastern United States are found within Gorges

State Park. An elevation that rises 2,000 feet in only four miles, combined with rainfall in excess of 80 inches per year, creates a temperate rain forest and supports a collection of waterfalls. Gorges State Park site.

Whitewater falls. Upper Whitewater Falls, located in the Nantahala National Forest near Cashiers, North Carolina, Courtesy of the US Forest Service

drops over 411 feet and is the highest falls east of the Rocky Mountains. Lower Whitewater Falls, located just across the border in South Carolina, drops another 400 feet. The rugged terrain around these two waterfalls remains wild and undeveloped. A paved, wheel-chair accessible walkway leads from the parking lot to the upper overlook which provides an excellent view of the upper Whitewater Falls. A lower overlook is located at the bottom of 154 wooden steps. Because of the difficult terrain surrounding Whitewater Falls, visitors are urged not venture off the established trails. Brevard Music Center. Each summer more than 400 students, ages 14 through post-college, join professional musicians to

The Library Club Restaurant. Once upon A Time......The Library is the oldest structure in Sapphire Valley. It was built around 1864 and was part of a working farm, which produced fresh vegetables, meats and wholesome dairy products for the old Fairfield Inn. Twin Lobster Tails Established as a private dining club in 1992, the Library was named after the lounge in the Inn. Great effort was taken to protect the architectural integrity of the original farmhouse. In 1999, it underwent a major renovation and expansion of the dining facilities, outdoor patio and gazebo. Today, as in the past we strive only to use the finest of ingredients, and serve only the freshest available meats, poultry and seafood on this fall 2005 edition of our menu. High Hampton Inn Golf Course. Each of the 18 holes on the golf course is a new scenic experience. All tees, fairways, The Eighth Hole and greens are lined by tall trees and offer scenic vistas. Alan and Marta Figel opened this rustic contemporary restaurant and winebar in 1981, and have built a loyal and enthusiastic clientele for their always interesting twists Overlooking Lake Sequoyah on American and international dishes. The Figels have travelled extensively in the Caribbean, Latin America, and Asia. The flavors of these cuisines can be found in dishes on the menu and in the daily specials. Karen Weihs. She paints from inspiration found in both of the Carolinas of scenes that move her. Her palette continues to evolve with the richness of green, violet and orange in which she finds a counterbalance. She is always looking for

ways to make one color play against another rather than merely being representative of what the eye thinks it sees. Lately she has explored a more figurative style but loves to explore anything that is challenging to her.
