TIM
MURRAY. Tim Murray’s work encompasses a
wide range of media: drawings, paintings,
prints, and sculpture. They are linked by their
rhythmic qualities and their strength of color
and form. The blending of media often makes one
look again, for frequently within a painting
there is a drawing; a piece of sculpture is, at
second glance, actually a drawing in wood or
ceramic or metal.
BLUERIDGE

J
L SULLIVAN PHOTOGRAPHY.
The camera is a powerful medium. it can include
or exclude as you wish. what do you see? what do
you want to see? what do you want someone else
to see? we understand from our experiences; we
understand from where we have come. our eyes are
so different. I believe every photographer wants
to present a gift to the observer, a gift of
something previously unseen, a gift of
perspective, a gift of beauty.
CEDAR
MOUNTAIN ART WORKS.
My goal as a potter is to
communicate my vision through the strength of
the form. I work to create beautiful, functional
pieces while seeking individual avenues for
self-expression. I am not afraid of failure and
I experiment continually with new ideas. Always
growing through change, I value the unique and
the unusual.
MUD
DABBERS. The
John O. Dodson family began making pottery
together in the 1970s. The Mud Dabbers' name was
inspired by the dirt dabbers, insects who build
their nests from mud, that found the family's
drying pots the perfect source of building
supplies. The smiling Mud Dabber logo, drawn by
son John at age 12, symbolizes the joy and
happiness the family hopes will be yours in the
sharing of their craft.

LOOKING GLASS FALLS. One of the
most well known and often-visited of
Transylvania county's falls is Looking Glass, a
handicapped-accessible 60-foot cascade located
next to U.S. 276. The name "Looking Glass" comes
from Looking Glass Rock, where water freezes on
its sides in the winter and then glistens in the
sunlight like a mirror or looking glass. The
falls are 60 feet tall and the area is
especially beautiful during the fall season.
TRANSYLVANIA
HERITAGE MUSEUM. During the 125th
anniversary celebration of Transylvania County,
NC in 1986, hundreds of people signed a petition
encouraging the formation of a county museum.
The Jim Bob Tinsley Museum, a non-profit
organization, was opened in May 1994 in Brevard,
NC. In 2003 the Transylvania Heritage Coalition
(THC) was formed. The THM opened in May 2008. It
now houses temporary and permanent displays of
