APPALACHIAN SKI MOUNTAIN. The NC High Country’s 1st Ski Area. Skiing since 1962. 2 Quad Chairlifts, 1 Double Chairlift, 1 Conveyor Lift, 1 Handle Pull Lift. 10 slopes including 2 Terrain Parks. Season: Friday before Thanksgiving through the first Sunday in April. Open 7 days a week. Night skiing beginning first Friday in December. Home of the French Swiss Ski College, the Southeast’s largest independent Ski School, offering daily group and private lessons & the SKIwee Childrens Program. Facilities include: 46,000 sq ft Bavarian-style base lodge is smoke-free w/ wireless internet, Restaurant, Ski Shop, Gift Shop, Nursery for Ages 1 to 4, Lockers, Video Game Room, Meeting Rooms, & 200 foot observation deck.  Slopeside lodging and ski-and-stay packages available. BLOWING ROCK ATTRACTIONBLOWING ROCK ATTRACTION  North Carolina's oldest travel attraction since 1933. Short scenic walk includes views of Grandfather Mountain, Table Rock, and Hawksbill. Also enjoy a small garden waterfall, observation tower and unique gift shops. Open daily April-December. January, February and March open weekends only, weather permitting. Located on Highway 321 South across from Green Park Inn. Handicap accessible. 
TWEETSIE RAILROAD.  Visit North Carolina's first theme park, and take a trip back into the days of the Old West. Hop aboard the train for an unforgettable three-mile journey through the scenic mountains. Even in today's high-tech world, there's still a place for old-fashioned fun. That place is Tweetsie Railroad, where we're celebrating 50 years of unforgettable family memories! Tweetsie Railroad is a unique attraction that allows children and families to explore their imaginations and a whole lot more. Be a cowboy, Indian or an engineer. And of course, every guest will want to take a ride on our historic steam locomotive, Number 12, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Mystery HillMYSTERY HILL. It's a fascinating exploration of science, optical illusion and natural phenomena. Tour includes the Mystery House where visitors stand at a 45° angle, the Hall of Mystery, the Puzzle Room, and Bubble-Rama. Also features Appalachian Heritage Museum and the Native American Artifacts Museum with 50,000 relics. Open 7 days a week, year-round, rain or shine. Four miles from Blowing Rock NC.
BLUE RIDGE PARKWAYTHE BLURRIDGE PARKWAY. Outstanding scenery and recreational opportunities make the Blue Ridge Parkway one of the most popular units of the National Park System. "America's Favorite Drive" winds its way 469 miles through mountain meadows and past seemingly endless vistas. Split-rail fences, old farmsteads and historic structures complement spectacular views of distant mountains and neighboring valleys. 
GRANDFATHER MOUNTAINGRANDFATHER MOUNTAIN is the highest mountain in the Blue Ridge Mountain range at an elevation of 5,964 feet. The Mountain is now owned by the state and is operated as a scenic travel attraction and a world-class nature preserve. The Mile High Swinging Bridge was built to give visitors easy access to the breath-taking view from Grandfather Mountain's Linville Peak.  
Linville Caverns - Marion, NCLINVILLE CAVERNS Located at the base of Humpback Mountain in the beautiful Linville Valley lies a natural wonder, Linville Caverns.  After remaining a mysterious secret for centuries, the caverns have been opened for safe and convenient public touring.  Deep beneath Humpback Mountain, nature has sculpted a veritable masterpiece in stone. Toiling many centuries, slowly moving ground water has been the primary artist for this creation of underground labyrinths. The water dissolved out an incredible series of rooms and passages, and created spectacular formations.
Parkway Craft Center at the Moses Cone Manor The Moses Cone Center. Milepost 294 on the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Moses Cone Manor just off 221. Moses and Bertha Cone built their home here at the turn of the century to have the natural beauty of the mountains at their front door. Today, their grand manor is home to abundant natural beauty of its own. Finest quality Appalachian Mountain hand-made crafts from the Southern Highland Craft Guild. Craft demonstrations on the porch.
