Andrews North Carolina is located in a serene valley in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains approximately 90 miles southwest of Asheville, 85 miles south of Knoxville and 75 miles east of Chattanooga and 130 miles north of Atlanta.  There is something quite spectacular, even spiritual, about mountains and the mountains surrounding Andrews form a particularly lovely valley.  Andrews is framed by the Snowbirds on the north, the Valley River mountains on the south and the Nantahala's on the East. Andrews is in Cherokee County close to Murphy and  Marble. Lake Hiawassi and Nantahala Forest offer endless outdoor adventures. Andrews is rich in Cherokee Indian history as well as that of the European settlers from the Elizabethan era. If you want a quiet small town getaway for water activities, hiking or just peace and quiet, Cherokee County will meet your needs. There is virtually no hustle and bustle or nightlife.

The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad. Tsali Recreation Area. The popular Tsali Recreation Area has long been a top destination for mountain biking in North Carolina and even the entire eastern US. The Cherohala Skyway.  was completed in the fall of 1996 after being under construction for some thirty-four years. It is North Carolina's most expensive highway carrying a price tag of $100,000,000. Winding up and over 6,000 foot mountains for 15 miles in North Carolina and descending another 21 miles into the deeply forested backcountry of Tennessee. The road crosses through the Cherokee and Nantahala National Forests thus the name "Chero...hala". The Skyway is becoming well known for its natural beauty and scenic vistas. Cherohala Skyway site.

Cherokee Heritage Trail. From the serene peaks of the Balsams to the muddy banks of the Little Tennessee River, Cherokee Heritage Trails wind through the southern Appalachians, telling the story of the Cherokee people, Ani-Kituhwa-gi, who once commanded all of the Southern Appalachians. Although most of the Cherokee were forcibly removed to Oklahoma on the Trail of Tears in 1838, a small group remained in their homeland, becoming the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.
